So much has happened since our last blog. We sailed through Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas with hardly time to breathe! Our class has worked so hard and learned so many new concepts it is amazing. We have been visited by our principal, Ms. Lightsey during "Investigations" and during our Readers Workshop.
Readers Workshop was first. We are practicing how to find answers to questions in books. It is called the QAR method. That stands for Question-Answer-Response. It is a very effective way to find answers to questions and identify what kind of questions they are. This will be very helpful as students move on to the older grades and have to analyze questions and how to find the answers. So important!!
Math Investigations was next. We are progressing to counting in different ways to 100, working on fractions, identifying patterns, sorting objects and many other games used for learning number sense and developing math language. Our class loves all these learning activities and the math talk that is happening is amazing!!
